First, the sightings, saw a beautiful 23' GMC II (by explorer) parked in a driveway of an equally beautiful circa 1730 home in Portsmouth, NH...I knocked on the door, (of the house) no answer. Second was a quick glimpse of what looked like a stretched beige MH with a mural of dogs or horses, it was traveling North on 95 in Maine near Portland. I waved like a banshee.

An hour and a half into our trip, Stephanie following in her Honda Pilot, complained of white smoke occasionally from the left of the coach, upon investigation found the speedometer leaking...tried to tighten, but needs to be addressed (seems stripped), found a happy tight spot, and it seemed to diminish.

Spent first 2 nights at Wakeda CG in Hampton Falls, NH visited historic Portsmouth, took a cruise to the Isle of Shoals. 293 miles, averaged 9.15 mpg! Btw, my ac froze up and had to cycle compressor to keep coach tolerable. I see wind wings in my future.

Next stop, Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park (our first National Park)...left Hampton Falls,NH at 9am...83 degrees, arrived at Smugglers Den CG 249 miles later, it was 65 degrees. Averaged 8.8 mpg and 1.5 qt oil. Walked the sand bar, lobstah, hiked about 20 miles, biked the carriage roads. Popovers at Jordan Pond, Weather was incredible (used heat a couple nights)

6 nights on MDI, checked off all our "to do" items...headed to Boston

Last three nights at Boston Minuteman CG, Littleton, MA. It was hot again...89, I joked we travelled too far south! Walked a lot of the Minuteman National Historic Park in Concord, MA. Spent a day in Boston, walked the Freedom Trail, took a ghost tour, ate in the North End /Faneuil Hall area. 287 miles, 8.2 mpg...1 qt oil. noticed base idle dropped to 17 from 19...need to investigate, but ran strong, good oil pressure, ran cool.

Last leg, 240 miles to home, half a tank? haven't fueled up yet, but my second to last fill up was a little short and skewed my calculation...(4.9 mpg).need to update after filling up coach.

Total 1069 miles, 3 qt oil, est 130 gallons regular ethanol based fuel.8.2 mpg speedo leak, idle vac drop to 17 in hg, hot in drive 12 in hg, cruised at 60 mph, ~3000 rpm (3.70:1 FD) new aluminum radiator worked like a charm, got a nudge over center mark once during trip climbing hills north of Hartford, CT in 90 degrees. Ac needs more duracool to prevent freezing evaporator...last item, my battery tray hold down broke, need to replace it. Otherwise great trip, lots of memories. Lots of thumbs up while driving.
