It's lighter, stronger, faster, has a better interior layout than most GMCs and generally uses better material, and it manages to sit on only FOUR TIRES instead of six. So there!!

As for the GMC, It gives me great pleasure to hit it with a Sawzall and dismantle it down to its bones and retire another VIN. So there!!

OK, actually, while much of that might be technically true, and I do love my revcon, I am seriously considering a GMC. Largely because of the support available from this community.

I just wrote that to put the bulls eye on my chest and draw fire away from the ongoing personality conflict.

My wife participates in forums on weight loss and adoption and every few days she tells me about some emotional melt down and subsequent flame war among the participants. These are emotional topics so people have a lot invested in them. I laugh and say how glad I am that this does not happen in the forums I participate in.

I have no opinion about anyone here but I'm very thick skinned so if anyone wants to beat me up over my misguided assertions above it is a service I am happy to provide.

While Revcons are a nice unit, i have worked on a few and i think i like the GMC's much better, god, you have room to remove the trans without smashing your hand cuz they really did use Torranado front ends right off of a car, short axels but yes, they are nice units

I think Dave missed the point. I mean, like who cares? What if they gave a war and no one came?

I looked up Revcon on the Internet. They are uglier than sin!  Who wants to drive an ugly motor home regardless how good they are, ...other than Dave?

Come on Dave, fess up! You want a GMC Motor home because you are already tired of driving an ugly one. Don't let your kids drive an ugly motor home!

Let me see your big 'smiley face'  as you agree with me.

Thanks for fixing the link Gary. That looks like a forerunner to the Sportsvan or something.
Let us see a pic of your 72 Revcon. Dave. I reserve judgement til I see a picture. You could have done something to improve the looks of it, who knows.
I do like the interior set ups of some Revcons. Do you get the looks that we get when you pull into a campground, with all kind of folks coming over while we are unhooking the car, asking all the questions and putting a big smile on your face?
Hey, I don't mind a Revcon guy hanging out here.

Yo Dave! You must be D E S P E R A T E if you have to come to a GMC FORUM to get someone to discuss your ugly Revcon coach. Too bad it only has 4 wheels and sits so high off the ground cause your rear axle has to go under the floor of the coach.

You will only be happy if you sell your Revcon and buy a GMC that has 6 wheels and air suspension in the rear making it the most advanced motorhome available back in the day and still a viable alternative to the modern overpriced stuff available.

My advice sell that ugly beast and buy a GMC cause for the most part we put up with you eccentric types. Except when you get too d... serious and sensitive!

Hey Guy's..
Some really interesting stuff in the 70's..
I had the opportunity to look closely art a Discoverer.. Man they were ahead of their time with the complex fiberglass work etc. but damned the quality control was pitiful.. They had lots of problems with glass not fitting(I mean a half inch too big!) and they were shipping like that..
Good idea with not enough R&D..
We were selling Travco's at the time from our Dodge Dealership.. Made in Brown City Michigan.. For their time they were excellent.. The fiberglass bodies were almost bulletproof...Literaly!

My Revcon, can be seen here:

www.davesilva.com/revcon

As for the reaction in campgrounds, i'm looking forward to finding out.

So far I've only drivien it home from about 200 miles away.

Ya'll are just jealous mine looks more like a vintage transit bus.

Dave, can you put some shiney wheels on that thing? Maybe a couple of Ramco mirrors? Looks like it was copied from a 72 Airstrean trailer inside. Rear bath and beds in the hallway. I like sleeping with my wife. Laughing
Hey, you are ok in my book. Bring that thing to one of our rallies. We will go over it with a fine tooth comb for you.
Looks to be in pretty good shape. I see lots of 72 ish models sitting out in Arizona, each time I go. Might be a good place for parts.
Thanks for the link to the photos.

That Dodge thing looks like it needs some lipstick. (y'know, put lipstick on a pig...)

There is a Revcon slant nose in my neighborhood that the guy has been working on longer than I have been on my GMC. I think He finally gave up. There is a for sale sign on it.

It may have the newer drive train. Has wide rear rims on it, kinda looks like a skateboard... Rolling Eyes

Man, That IS ugly! I recently made the mistake of showing my 22yo son a Travco on Craig's list. Ever since, he has been lusting after a Travco that he can put Dodge 4WD running gear into, including a Cummins Turbo-Diesel! He says he will be able to pull my GMC out of the dirt at the sand dunes. Ha!
