My 76 Palm Beach has no awnings and I'd like to add a patio awning and the shorter one for the driver side. New or used.

Jim K at Applied GMC has new ones. I was trying to find a new carefree but the don't make the arms anymore. We have Zip Dee on our Bluebird and I love them. 5 awning on that one and not a bit of trouble.

Here's my testimony about Zip Dees:

We had quite the un-forcasted windstorm at Silver Strand this past week starting at around 2 am. I'd estimate that at least 25% of the awnings were damaged, most of them heavily. Perhaps folks went out and retracted them at the first signs of wind. I'd read on here how durable Zip Dees were in the wind, so I elected to leave them extended. I have full length narrow and wide ones I bought used from Miguel last year. The GMC did move around a bit as the big awning especially seemed to act as a wing/parachute at times, but no damage whatsoever upon inspection the following morning. Mounts were rock solid, nothing was torn or tweaked.

Call Jim at Applied GMC. He's a great guy and very helpful. They are a bitch to figure out how to install. The ZipDee instructions are confusing and wrong. I've been told three or more ways to install. They aren't cheaap but superior to Carefree or A&E. Good luck.

I tried to buy a Carefree earlier this year and they no longer make the curved arms. We've got ZipDees on our Wanderlodge - their great but as you say not cheap and since we're just going to give the GMC to the dau and sil they can get their own awning.
