Hi Folks--
I have been reading the forum for the past 6 months and have learned so much from you guys. Really appreciate all you guys offer to us new guys.
I just bought a nice 1978 Palm Beach and finally made it home with her--- I started in Austin TX on Aug 3rd and ended broken down in Monroe LA where an awesome blacklister helped me solved my dirty fuel, bad fuel pump and faulty alternator problems. He went above and beyond to help me out. I flew back west last Friday and drove her home to Charlotte NC. She ran great and is in really nice condition.
I have a few things I need to take care of and need some help from you guys to make sure I buy the right parts. I have a local NAPA guy that I like to support and would like to buy everything from NAPA. Also, I tried the Parts Interchange book but became unsure when the AC belt that is referenced was only 10MM wide and I understand it needs to be 11MM wide.
Here is what I need and if someone could give me a NAPA (or Autozone) part number for it I would really appreciate it---
I have the 403 Engine--
- AC Belt
- Alternator Belt
- Lower Radiator Hose
- Power Steering Hoses
- Front Shocks
Also, can you find ONAN parts locally--- For my Onan I would like to buy:
- Plugs
- Fuel Filter
- Air Filter
Thanks for the help!

You're right. For some reason that info is surprisingly hard to find. Try here: http://bdub.net/gmcmhparts/#ENGINE or here: http://gmcmotorhome.info/list.html
Some parts can be found by referencing a '75 Toronado
The Onan spark plugs (Champion RH-12) and oil filter (Wix 51762) can be sourced locally, but I'm not sure about the air filter (shows a NAPA 6270) These from the GMCMI Parts Interchange (an old one).
You might have better luck getting the power steering hose 're-hosed' locally than finding a listing for it.
All that said, I usually take the easy way out on a lot of parts and just order them from Applied GMC. If they don't show the part on their website, call them and they will generally have it.

Hi Jim:
The guys on the GMCnet are very good - I am sure you will get the help you need!
Funny how so many GMCers are also into Vairs! I am not a mechanic but have a good one for ea of my habits - 5 GMCs (well 4 now - sold one 2 years ago) and 13 Vairs (well 12 now - sold one last year)!
Still needing to downsize a bit more - Ha.

I have seldom seen a need for the wide belts.
The main thing to keep in mind is belt tension and pulley alignment.
Make sure the belts are NEW, not old stock.
We need to always RETIGHTEN the NEW belts as they stretch.

Jim,
Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum.....
This is really embarrassing for me. I remember setting up this link.
http://gmcmhparts.com/
And even looking at it in "preview", but I don't see it here.
When you join GMCMI, you will get the more complete hardcopy mailed to you.
It is also embarrassing because I missed that you were new here.
I like to welcome and warn new people that about this group. The GMC owners (some may have traded off or given up, but the memory still hold them) are a strange community. It is a community of support and help like very few others. While you are here you will see/read of some amazing things, and many will seem way beyond what should be expected from even friends. But that is how it is here. As this community is so like that of the watermen of my world, I like to welcome new owners much as a new owner or vessel is welcomed there. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.
Welcome Jim
