There is definitely a big press push going on. While I expect a lot of this effort is being spearheaded by oil lobbyists, there is a fair amount of complaining by environmentalists, too.

I have hope that the mandate will be reduced or at least not increased.

I think that could happen, particularly as they can blame it all on Bush.

No announcement about the new mandate levels yet. But here's a good overview.

Why everybody hates the ethanol mandate. Hostility to the law has made for some unlikely bedfellows

They should say "Everybody except the farmers." I live in an area heavy in mega-farms. We're sporting a lot of new iron around here.

I saw within the past couple of days that the ethanol requirement for next
year has been cut back to the 2012 level rather than increased. I HOPE
that's a clue to the future.

That was a leak and was retracted, Ken. The lobbyists jumped on that and have been twisting arms. Whether the pro-ethanol group will be successful, we don't know yet. It is supposed to be announced by Nov 30, by law.

Shame on you Tom!

The politicians inside the beltway are some of the smartest people we have in this country, they have the highest integrity and
moral standards that are beyond reproach! They have sacrificed much to hold their office and act out total altruism keeping what is
best for the American people as their guide!

Just ask any one of them and they'll tell you that! ;-)

Regards,
Rob M.

Toooo bad.

Darned Citizens United & USC!

Tell me again about that "Nov 30, by law"? And about that "1 October"
fiscal year start? :-(

Sorry -- too close to political.
