Also anyone have pricing?

Firestone Transforce HT may be your only choice. I have not looked for these, but picking' are slim. You may find it cost effective to convert to 16" wheels, look for steel, if aluminum are not in the budget.

My Firestone dealer had them in stock at the local warehouse and they were about the same as comparable 16". Granted it is the only brand I have found in that size, but they seem to have plenty of them and they ride nice.
Of course, once you plump down for new 16.5" tires, your neighbor will dig a set of 16" alcoas out of his basement to take to the dump because he is tired of moving them - or some such.
76 Birchaven - "Wicked Mistress" - New engine, trans, alum radiator, brakes, Sully airbags, fuel lines, seats, adult beverage center... those Coachmen guys were really thinking about us second hand owners by including that beverage center...

Not even close. At $156ea for 16.5" vs ~$115ea for 16" E rated tires, you'd have to buy 35 tires before you'd break even on 6 Eagle wheels. More tires if you want a 16" spare, and even more if you want the Alcoas, ~43 tires if you only buy 6 wheels.
They do dress up the coach, but, even if the ROI was 3 sets, you're talking what, minimum 15yrs worth of tires? With the reality being an ROI of ~6 sets, now you're talking 30yrs worth of tires.
Is it worth the convenience of finding 16" tires virtually anywhere and dressing up the coach? Maybe. If mine didn't come with 16" wheels I would likely invest in them at some point, mainly for the convenience.

It's not just because it's harder to get 16.5" tires, I mean that's a great reason but more than that we are seeing piles of original rims getting bent from just sitting around. If the rims you have are no radial rims (welded in the center) they should not have radial tires laced on them-- they will leak air internally. You ask, "What's the 1/2 life of an original rim on these-- I would say about now!
Yes, it is an expense but you can find cheaper 16" tires, certainly easier to findplus if you are on the road and have to replace one you will not be "hooped". Then there is the better ride issue, bent rims with runout somply eat up tires and rattle your teethm mess up suspension parts and are simply not as nice as the new aluminum American Eagle rims Jim K. had custom made for our GMC. There is a pile of technology in getting a rim to fit your coach. The 16" rim has to clear a 16.5" drum and needs a 116mm center bore for it to be a true "hub center" system. The Eagles Jim K. has is over $100 a rim less than the older Alcoa rims so yea, you are "saving money".
Man, turn those steel rims to scrap, get new rims. Just how I see it,

We were talking about this when I visited but you got busy and I never got a chance to hear the expanded answer.
I get the non radial rim thing. What scares me is that I never saw the rim with the tire dismounted, and I doubt the 20 something's in the tire shop would have known what a bias ply tire was anyway. Is there a code on the rim?
Seemed to ride ok before the engine grenaded anyway.

just bought 6 of these 16.5 transforce for the PB. in canadian dollars it worked out to the about the same as tirerack they all have build dates of July 2013. the tire warehouse that my regular "backyard" mechanic uses was able to source all tires and get them here within 3 days.
I had him use the equal balance and all I can say is WOW what a great riding coach. smooth and for the first time I am able to let go of the steering wheel while driving.
I must have had some really bad tires before.
I can not imagine getting a better ride then this. of course I have only driven one other GMC on a short test drive not on the highway.

All GMC Motorhomes, starting with SER# TZE165V101674 and newer coaches came from the factory with Wheel part no 359402 radial rims which can use both bias ply and radial tires. This problem was original found and a recall notice 74C05 was issued in 1974 on not using radial tires on the bias rims. On the back side of the rim you should see and R inside a circle or the word "RADIAL" stamped on the rim. Most of these older steel rims are no longer straight and true. I change out my rims in 1999 for Alcoa's and poly sidewall tire and the ride difference was like night and day. If you get just the 16" steel wheels and the poly sidewall tires you will see a marked improvement also. The truck rims are not beat up like the factory GMC coach rims.

Hello all,
I'm in Minnesota
I know there is a lot of conversation about these tires, (i only need 2)I did call pep boys , no luck with them , I called Firestone and they can get them for $161.99 plus tax , but they can't mount or balance them , they referred me to a truck shop . A friend said he can get them for me and mount balance them for 190 each , it's a lot but have no choice , just want to make sure I am getting the correct tires that will match the others ( in today's new tire specs), here is what I have now

To make sure you get the correct tires forget your friend unless he can guarantee he can get you the exact replacement tires for the
ones listed below AND that they are no more than six months old!
OR call Firestone and give them the same information and caveat.
By the way if all your tires were made in 2007 you need six not two!

Any tire shop can mount them,What are they talking about?????I made my first couple trips on the Michelins that were on the coach when I got it in October last year.It was on blocks inside a warehose its whole life.I am the second owner.Well
I found out the tires I had were dicontinued in 1989.Perfect shape and tons of tread
and drove like a dream.I was Lucky!!!!!!!!I also was lucky on that Pep boys close out.
When the Scrambler tires went on sale,the 16.5's they had 120 showing in the warehouse.They sold the last few last month. $89 I got 8 mounted and balanced
for just over $500. They messed up the order so I kinda got 2 for free.I drove for a 1000+ miles on tires from 1987. Kinda scary ,Huh?

Futura Scramblers made in USA by Cooper Tire!!I got em at Pep Boys like I said.They sold em out pretty darn quick,in my opinion.
