Sir, the 3 wire function switch you speak of is the wiper switch? The Caddy one is identical looking to the 1990 Lumina Van one that Ken Henderson uses on his electric wipers kit but will not work. The Lumina switch has clicks from off thru delay to on, the Caddy switch is smooth. SW626 Duralast. You will need the tool with the longer center rod that locks the telescopic feature to release the horseshoe lock. You will also need the tilt pin remover tool and a steering wheel remover tool. All the tools should be available locally to you. When you swap the upper column at the ball keep the 2 pieces orientated with the steering wheel timing marks up. The nylon ball needs to be flipped 180* to move the wear pattern to a virgin surface. The Caddy column possibly has the 13 wire turn signal switch which has the extra switch for cornering lights. The MH switch has 10 wires. You will need to carefully unlatch the plastic wire retainers and 10 wires in order with a paper clip and swap them. You can buy a new turn signal switch with cornering lights switch at Auto Zone for ~$29, the one without cornering lights is ~$39. Application is 1976 Toronado with cornering lights. Sw326 duralast or D6233 AC Delco. The Caddy dimmer switch will work but if you want flash to pass feature, UDS423 Duralast. Is Autozone brand. The 3 wires going to floor dimmer will unplug ( you have to remove switch to get wires out of plug) and plug in to new switch without cutting.

You will need to extend the dimmer rod about 3” as needed. I usually use a piece of brake line a little bigger than the dimmer rod, and drill in both ends with a bit the size of the dimmer rod an inch or so. When I have the switch ready to install I cut the dimmer rod about an inch above the bottom bend after I mark a straight line with a magic marker to index. I also use a smaller rod like coat hanger cut to exact length to add and put in the brake line with JB w3ld on final assembly and putting it all together.

Let me know which switches you use cause you will need to run a 12v 20 amp fused line to operate the flash to pass (4th separate bottom terminal) and the cornering lights (brown Is hot and other 2 wires are going to R&L cornering light which needs to be grounded) and the wiper switch (pink)

The upper column is different and you will need a different lock ring compressor tool for telescopic feature. When you change upper shaft at the knuckle joint be sure and keep index mark in the same place. There are pictures and take down instructions in all Cadillac manuals.

Hello C Boyd: I have an ‘85 Caddy tilt/telescopic column & steering wheel with a 3 wire multi function switch. However, it does not include a wiper function. What does the different lock ring compressor look like and where is it available for sale? I also purchased a ‘77 GMC Coach column that I will use as my core. I have a ‘79 Caddy Eldorado Service manual, an ‘85 Oldsmobile shop manual and an ‘90 Caddy Service Manual and all cover tilt/telescopic steering columns. Thanks!
