Richard,

If you look in the Parts Book 78Z (reference provided in earlier email) you'll find there are no lock washers specified,

I reckon the gasket got crushed over time and you sprung a leak.

If it is possible to use a tiny bit of Permatex Black RTV on the both sides of the gasket that's what I'd do. The problem in doing
that is you have to be VERY careful not to use too much and have the RTV get into the oil stream as it could wind up in a lifter or
someplace else and cause a problem.

Rob,

I was told off line by someone who would know that it can be done with the manifold in place, but it is a tricky operation. You only
have about an
inch to play with and the orientation of the gasket is easy to mess up. My problems might have been caused by my not using lock
washers for those
three bolts when I finished putting the engine together before I installed it in the coach. Over time they loosened up causing the
leak. It took
30,000 miles or so to do that. I was in a hurry to get it done and wonder now what else I screwed up during the install.

I need to get it done this week since I plan on leaving for Wisconsin on Sunday.
