The PO installed an exterior/additional transmission cooler at the front
of the coach. He didn't replace the hard lines, just cut one off and
clamped on rubber lines. Those hard lines are in tough shape, so I bought
a nice pair of stainless ones from JimK.

My question: any suggestions on what to replace the rubber hoses with?

thanks,
Karen

Karen, you will get lots of responses on this. The pressure in those lines is not that great. But, I like to take mine to a shop and have custom hydraulic hoses made. That is just me. I think most folks do as the po did on your's and that may be fine.
I have a cooler waiting for me at home that will be mounted in my radiator gaurd and hooked to the trans line. My old one was hooked up by po just like your's was.

The issue here is to prepare the stainless lines correctly for flexible hose
whether Aeroquip type or oil compatible. On my stainless lines when I put
the tranny cooler on I used Aeroquip SS over hose and then did inverted
flares on the cut ends of the SS lines to do the connections using fittings.
Cost wise I only like to cry once. I think that proper hose that will handle
the heat and pressure is fine. But you should have some sort of bead or
inverted flare on the cut ends of the SS line so the hose does not slide
off. Even using a regular flaring tool and then carefully smoothing the
edge of the flare with a file to get rid of the sharp edge would in my
opinion help a lot. Also make sure that the SS lines are supported.
Stainless steel does not like vibration.

Thanks

Buy some 3/8" steel brake line at about any auto parts store and bend
them to fit. They come in various lenghts and are pre flared with
fittings attached. You can get a brass "reverse flare coupler that
will connect to the end of your new stainless steel line.

I have the external cooler connected to the outlet of my transmission
cooler that is built into the radiator and the outlet of the external
cooler connected to the return line to the transmission

Emery, I like your's. Let me look at it when we get to Montgomery, please. Will save me some money.
Thanks,
Dan
