Hey everyone, I am hoping this is my last posting about this problem.....

I have tried to not point fingers, more or less, and I have been quite frazzeled over the length of time since it began.

It seems the supplier where I received the first rebuilt carb from has his carb work done by a outside company, Carborator Rebuilders ( referred to by me as THE PIRATES ).

Though the supplier does good work and stands behind his work, he seems to SELF WARRANTEE the carbs, I assume this gives him a break for carb work and allows some kind of profit.

Let it be known that I would not suggest avoiding the supplier, he has the customer at heart and will do anything to keep you running and happy and has proven this to me many times and I would not hesitate to recommend him, but I do have an ISSUE with the PIRATES - Nuff said of the Pirates.

This carb came back with the numbers 17056257 / 1686 / 51486

The carb looks like it came off a shelf, shiney almost like a mirror. Even my mechanic was impressed.

We put it in and ( for the moment ) the power loss problem seems to be gone. I was actually ging 75MPH, seems to be the new top speed now. ( I though I had gone faster before )

It will be a long time before I trust this GMC again but she sure is running PURRRRRRRrrrrty. In fact, she has never ran better, of course everything under the hood, other than the engine, is NEW.

hoping this is it, I don't have the hard evidence of the problem I wanted, and I have not filled her with fuel yet, so hoping that will not set it off again.

Thank you all for all your patience, ideas, thoughts and humour.
