I'd like to find a parts coach near me (Albuquerque, NM). Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks, Hal

one around here. Unfortunately, 1491 miles to your place. You have to wonder whether it would make it or not.

Hal

I am always driving around so I will keep my eyes open and let you know if I see one. I will also ask my employees to do the same.

Thank you. I know there was one a year ago in Bosque but it looks to be gone now. I know the late John Williams owned a 'junker' as he called it with another friend that I'd never met. I haven't been able to contact his son so the search is on. Hal

I really only need pieces to stretch one-if you have something let me know, thanks.

Thanks, I've seen it there and before. It looks like a bunch of mostly 'junk' pieces , not enough to do the stretch I'd guess. And the price plus shipping is way out of line I'd say.

Hal- the ebay - stretch parts are just south of me in rogers.

yes, he wants too much money for them on ebay and has been trying to sell them for a year now. this is the parts I believe to stretch the back bedroom, and I am familiar with this guys "uncle" Chuck Kokesh's coach.

Yes Jon, Wally sent me a link with the stretch build his 'uncle' did. It doesn't look like there's enough material to do the job and the price puts it out of reach, especially considering shipping.
There is a unit a fellow GMCer was going to pick up that he's volunteered the parts from but I have to wait and see how he's fared. Thanks for the heads up, Hal

Hello Hal,

check with Tom McManus (94nubble on here) - he might not be near by, but maybe someone is driving cross country and can carry stuff. iirc he once tried his luck on a stretch.

Say 'hi' to your wife!

Hal, What pieces exactly do you need? I have a lots of aluminum frame and the steel frame parts left from the fifth wheel project and misc accumulations that Bert had collected. I don't think I really will need most of them. Let me know if you are interested.

I would like to find a roof bow, a floor cross member and at least 2 feet of drip rail, mid coach horizontal brace, lower side brace and rail over the doors. Both sides of course and it'd be great to get some of the lower body fiberglass. the upper side aluminun and roof aren't needed.
I do have a line on one but nothing has been finaled as yet. Let me know what you might have. A trip to CA might not be too bad a distraction.
Thanks, Hal

Hal, I will take a look this weekend - it isn't suppose to be raining then - and will get back to you. I am sure I have several of those items.

Hal, I do have the roof bow (new), the aluminum floor pieces, the lower side bows, at least one 2foot plus piece of the upper aluminum section that joins the top to the sides. I probably have some of the other pieces you need, but not sure of their cross sections. Could you send me a drawing or something that would aid me in identifying them? Will most likely be a week or two before I will have time to uncover more treasure. Still have three weeks of teaching before we are out for the summer. I don't have any of the fiberglass sections that you need, but do have a mold for the long side if you want to make your own pieces.

In up state California - outside of Eureka - Kneeland to be precise. Right now we are still in semi-lock down, no campgrounds or motels open. However, I do have area for camping on my property. Can also ship what you might want, or as they aren't going anywhere soon might be able to have someone bring them to Phoenix in late summer. Or can keep you informed regarding loosening of restrictions. Bert was a waste not want not kind of guy and I would rather see parts used than melted down.

Western distances are deceiving. That's only 200 miles closer than here.

Hal is no stranger to driving long distances, Johnny. For a while his commute was longer than most people would believe. 1400 miles for him would be just a jaunt...besides, gas is very attractively priced.

I also encourage GMC master fabricators to get together often and collaborate. It will hasten the future. The good one. 😉

Burt, I don't know what the cross sections look like yet as I've not cut the coach apart. I've been trying to locate 'pieces' before doing so. Another member I spoke with was trying to buy a derelict 23' that may still happen but I'm chasing down all possibilities at this point.
My brother lives out of Carson City and we plan on heading that way in 6 or so weeks so it'd be a short jaunt to your place.
I did commute from Las Vegas to Albuquerque and back most every week for almost 3 years so the drive isn't a killer.
Thank You again, Hal
