All good here, so far. Haven't left the ranch since Tuesday last. Not going
to, either. Might do a combo drive up bank, produce and dairy run next
week. Well stocked pantry and freezer. We always try to be prepared. We
live a 20 mile round trip from civilization, so that's the way we roll.
Gasoline tanks on ALL vehicles kept at the full mark. If we have to "bug
out" we have ready bags to grab 'n go. Guns nearby, too.
It's the times we live in, not for the timid or faint of heart. Check
on friends and family by electronic methods daily.
All my GMC friends out there, be safe. We got through Viet Nam, Cold
War, the world trade center bombings, the Polio epidemic, Swine flu, Bill
Clinton, Obama, etc., we will get through this too. You'all hang in there.
Don't panic.

Just to keep it in perspective, We lost 59,000+ young, strong, American men
of prime reproductive age in Viet Nam, Almost 4000 Americans in a single
afternoon, plus who knows exactly how many first responders afterwards,
perished in the World Trade Center.
Yes, this is bad, but we shall overcome! If you are a Christian, pray
for those less fortunate than we are.

If you are not prepared, you may be sorry.
Living in hurricane country, Lower Alabama, I'm always ready. RV makes a great escape pod. Add a real radio to the mix and you have
it all.
Tom

P.S. Real radio means HF/VHF/UHF amateur radio at your side. Responded to over 15 actual hurricanes. USCG moto comes to mind, "Semper Paratus."

Being connected to real survival resources is vitally important in floods,
hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions.
Pandemic events are quite a bit different. Not much trauma to treat.
Lots of Ambulance transports, large numbers of criticality ill patients
overwhelming available medical treatment venues.
News media reporting all kinds of misinformation, Politicians at all
levels, informed by other politicians instead of real experts, spouting off
in front of cameras, flooding the mass media with blame game finger
pointing towards opposing political parties.
Geez, best we can do is limit our viewing to 1/2 hour of national
news, same with local news.
Your idea of a communication device is a good one. STAY OFF FACE BOOK,
TWITTER, ETC.
Just what we do. You pick your own brand of poison.

My cat, Motor, and I are holed up and doing fine. I worry about my oldest daughter and her fam. She is an ER nurse. The other day she texted me to make sure I was safe at home 'cuz the covid 19 patients they are getting are really sick, needing respirators and the whole bit. Also, some are young, like 21. So it's not just us old ones that need to be careful.
I decided to use the time to dig deeper into redoing the interior of my coach. Thanks to boredom, it is now totally stripped, except for the bathroom and that may be next.

Hibernating with Paula, cats and dogs. I was at one of the country's biggest dog shows three weeks ago, after two weeks I figure I dodged anyone trhere (Louisville) spreading the virus unknowingly. Walk the dogs in an unused park as long as no one is there, to overcome cabin fever. I bought a lawnmower online and picked it up yesterday standing back while the gloved masked guy loaded it in the truck, took it home, and wiped the entire thing with alcohol swabs. Daughter has a call, the stagehand's union is making masks.

Well today was my first excursion off the reservation in nearly 2 weeks.
All I can say, is, it is NOT "business as usual" here in GOD'S country.
Went first thing to the post office. Looked like a holdup in progress.
"MASKED FACILITATORS" at the entrance, only allowing a few people in, then
wait while the two clerks left on duty cleared their customers out, then a
few more were allowed, etc. Turned a 3 minute exposure to others into a 1/2
hour or more. HMMMM?
Then. Off to bank #1, Same deal. Then to bank #2. Only drive up
tellers were working. STATE AND GOVERNMENT OFFICES PAYDAY. OMG. Lines of
cars, diesel 4×4 F-350 Ford jacked up extra cab P.U.'s, you get the pix. At
least a half hour shot to heck. Then, off to bank #3. Repeat.
Finally, safely back at the ranch. 11:55 am. Morning shot for sure.
Then, back inside the house, de-contaminate ourselves and everything we
brought back with us.
Definitely not the carefree "Same old, Same old" routine.
Be careful out among em, pilgrims.

Have some time in the evenings. I am still going to work trying to keep the internet working doing my best to keep disinfected. So last couple nights at home, I pulled out the ev6010 from the coach. last night I finished the extraction the starter. Dropped it off at the rebuilder this morning and picked it up this afternoon. It was fried again, and need to check some relays. Going to unplug the inside contol panel
For a while and see if I can get more then a trip out of the starter. I was the only one at that shop the two visits.

Today is also my 14th wedding anniversary. So Wife and I drove accross town in the GMC and had a nice dinner inside the GMC out on the edge of the parking lot of one of the restaurant doing take out.

Back home and the kids are doing a virtual escape room with their friends.

Odd times.

Update -
We'll do our last lake walk today. The state has issued a stay home starting tomorrow, which consolidates most of the local town's rules. That there's nobody in the park doesn't matter, not allowed, stay home as of tomorrow (3APR).

My commute has gone from 20 mins to less than 10 even though I’m currently
driving in an hour later which would usually ensure a 30 plus minute
commute.

Drive through only at the bank but that doesn’t prevent deposit making
really.

All of my crew still healthy but found out less than an hour ago my office
managers brother just tested positive. The office manager was with him a
couple weeks ago so waiting for a timeline to do the math there.

The phone has gone markedly more quiet.

Some of our vendors have switched us to cash rather than our charge account
because they have sent their book keeping people home

Today is payroll day.

Interesting times to say the least.

Ada and I are doing fine. Like Tom P says, after prepping for hurricanes, this isn't too
bad. No wind, rain or flooding and we have electrical and A /C and plenty of food. Staying
at home's only issue is Ada is calling in ALL of the "honey does" and the "when I have the time
to get to it's".

Ada's cancer medical team is keeping a close watch on her situation and condition. So far, so
good. Just playing it all as smart as we can.

Just an other day in paradise.

I’m glad to hear that you are doing well.

I got an email from a friend that asked when the social distancing was going to end. He said his wife keeps trying to get into the house.

That could be a solution to all the “honey dos”

Keep well.

So far, so good here... Still working as driving truck for the USPS is considered essential... 3 people already have been infected in the facility I run out of, but I have limited contact with anyone inside

I hope things turn around soon, and we all stay safe!

I went out late yesterday to get something from Menards. I had a face mask and rubber gloves on. The first thing I saw was the parking lot was at least 1/2 full at 7 PM on a Sunday night. I went inside and there were shoppers everywhere. People were buying everything including pipe and 2x4s to 4'x8' sheets of home improvement interior stuff. 4 registers open and I had 3 people waiting in front of me. It looked like any normal Sunday there. I got my one item and left.

On my way home I stopped at Walmart and it was also a busy parking lot. As I walked in they had closed one of the two main entrances forcing every on one to use the same doors. At that entrance there was an employee with a tablet PC mounted on a stand like a large music stand.

I was in Walmart yesterday to pick up a prescription and saw the same set then. The whole time I was there I saw only one person wearing a mask. On the way out I stopped I stopped and talked to the Walmart lady with the tablet and asked what she doing. She was logging how many people were going in and out. At about 8PM there were 287 customers in the store by her count. Supposedly if too many people are in the store, management would limit additional entries. She did not know what that limit number was.

While the traffic was a little lighter than normal, it was still there.
I must say we are in a county that has seen a total of 14 confirmed cases and no deaths. One case was from New York driving a truck. He has already been released and told to continue on his way. We assume that was to make his delivery and go back home to NY.

Indiana keeps popping up on the radar because of Indianapolis (158 miles away with 1956 cases and 51 deaths) and Lake county, IN (where all of the people from Illinois are moving to get out of Chicago area due to the high taxes). They have 369 cases and 8 deaths.

IN my case, I am staying home for a week or two.

Emery,

Nope not here. I'm more afraid that she might change the locks when I go out
for the mail. She is too damn handy with the tools. Se was a plumber years
ago. We canceled my trip to Vietnam this spring. Now when this excitement is
over she and I are going diving in St. Kitts / Nevis for a week or so. Getting the
gear inspected and together.
