My story has a bunch of twists and turns...but I need the bumper mounts (from the frame to the bumper) for a '78 Royale that I bought last week. The story begins about two months ago when I crossed paths with an owner while I was travelling in my Southwind. I really liked the GMC and knew something about them from my cousin (now deceased) who lived in California and was a longtime GMC owner. He sold his some years ago but always had fond recollections of his GMC travels.
Well, I sold the Southwind and started looking. One in Georgia caught my eye and during my initial conversation, the owner said he bought it seven years ago from an elderly couple in California....(you can see what's coming)...it was my cousin's old GMC! He owned it for 30 years and the fellow in Georgia had it for seven. Kept in a garage all its life unless on the road....lots of accessories. Karma, I guess.
At any rate, in order for it to fit in my barn, I had to remove the front storage compartment and remount the bumper. Unfortunately, the mounts that run from the frame to the bumper are long gone. If anyone might know of a source, I appreciate your letting me know.
(P. S. The drawing of it is in the assembly manual on page 876...front bumper assembly)

John,
Welcome,
Someone will be able to help you, there are more than a few parts coaches in the mix.
Now, four things of varying importance:
You found your way here and that is good. Now, go the Control Panel, Account settings and scroll way down. Put in a sigfile with your real name (so when you meet other owners they will know who you are), a short bit about the coach (year, upfitter, there are some differences and mods that matter), and a geographic reference (so that someone that might like to help you will know if he is in striking range).
Next, go to Bdub's links and find the registry and get that set so John knows about you and the coach.
Third, look up the local chapter (Dixielanders is close) and get familiar with those people. The fact that they will be a valuable resource is the next item.
Last but not the least important by any means is that by being a GMC owner you can be part of a community like few others that exist. They are vastly supportive and helpful. The only sure way to annoy them is to ask for advice and then ignore it. We may not have any original owners here, but we do have some that wore out one or more coaches and have some experience with everything. The only other community that I know of that is like this is that of the watermen that are my world. For that reason, I have taken to welcoming new owners much as any new owner or vessel is welcomed there. So,

Hi Randy....
Thanks for the offer. Since the originals aren't there, I don't know exactly what kind are needed. The coach is a '78 Royale. The drawing I saw in the assemble manual shows the rigid style. I don't think it would make any difference other than I don't want the bumper to stick out past the nose. OAL is crucial since I've only got about 2-3 inches of clearance. I'll see if I can find out what type came on it and get back to you. Postage to me isn't a problem Thanks!

Mr. Boyd, I'm not sure if I correctly sent you the private message this morning so I figured I'd better do it here. I definitely want the bumper mounts ($50) and I can pick them up on next Friday at Bean Station if that is convenient for you. Also, do you have the "splice" plate that joins the two bumper halves? I need that as well if you have one. I plan to be there on Friday...a week from today.
