Until a few weeks ago, I was under the impression that ALL GMC built coaches other than Edgemonts were some variation of the wet bath. Then we found our rear twin dry bath Kingsley and thought all Kingsley's had the GMC rear twin side dry bath like the Edgemonts. Then I learn of at least two Eleganza's that are the same rear twin dry. None of these are conversions. There was a 78 Kingsley at the GMCMI rally that was the wet bath.
At the GMCMI rally, I was talking with Alex Sirum and he said that he thought all Kingsleys were the standard wet bath. So now I'm confused. Our coach has the burnt orange Kingsley fabric and the bed mattresses and bolsters are the same fabric and, if I'm any judge, it's original.
So was the model really just the color scheme and fabrics and you could order anything with any floor plan? Were they all basically the same price or were some more expensive. I'd expect the rear twins/dry were a bit more but don't really know.

Kerry,
Don't feel bad. For a long time I thought that the called model was more that a color scheme, well, it is for the interior, but nothing else. The only given might be that all '73 & 4 (Gemini interior) were wet bath.

Kerry,
I was aware that GMC built rear twins with dry baths other than the Edgemont. I believe that most Kingsley's and Eleganza's were wet
baths; I have no idea how many dry baths were built.
Hopefully Bill Bryant will read this and chime in.
From what I've read the Edgemont was an "entry level" GMC and priced lower than other models in 1976 the year they were introduced.

Yes, they were. I am fairly sure they (mostly) came with the "plywood and foam" seating like the 73/74 coaches. but they all were dry bath/twin layout.
ALL the other GM upfitted models offered in 1976 and 1977 could be ordered with dry bath/twin layouts. There is a difference in the TZE; (first number after the "TZE".)

The following info is from the 1977 Options Selector & pricing sheets, revised 12/12/76.
ZEO6581-26' (standard features & floor plans) Base price = $30,347.12
Kingsley .....Interior Decor Group +$270
Eleganza II ......" ........" ......." ...+$0
Palm Beach ......" ......." ......." ...+$270
ZEO6584-26 (twin bed floor plan) Base price = $30,997.12 Bed Bolsters(option BRV = $169)
Kingsley ........"
Eleganza II ...."
Palm Beach ..."
Notes:
1- Many more options available, each the same price on all models.
2- Twin bed size 2@ 32"X75"
3- Do not have price list for 1976, have the 1978 list, can't locate it right now.
4- "Generally" model name defined interior decor and "usually" exterior colors/trim.
5- Interesting to me, the lowest priced GMC 26' model in 1976 (Edgemonte)was the only twin bed that year. Following year twin beds were more expensive than other standard floor plans. What was GMC thinking?
6- Don't know of any record that defines number of twin beds built.
7- NEVER EVER use the terms "always" or "Never".

Bill,
Thanks!
Where did you get this information: "2- Twin bed size 2@ 32"X75"
I have measured two different Edgemonts and the rear twins were 36" x 77."
The measurement was from the closet to the rear wall and the back of the bathroom to the rear wall.
Kerry,
Could you check this for us please.
Regards,
Rob M.

I can't say anything about the Edgemont's but my Kingsley is 78" from the center aisle by the 'nightstand' to the bath module or closet and about 76" by the taillight bulge of the plastic cap.

Kerry,
Thanks!
OK we can update the rear twin measurements as follows:
1976 Kingsley by GMC Rear Twin Bed Measurements
Length: Hard surface (measured down center of mattress - closet / bath to the rear window) = 77 inches
Width: Hard surface (measured from side wall to side of night stand) = ?? inches
Mattress Length: 76 inches
Mattress Width: ?? inches
Mattress Thickness: ?? inches
It is reasonable to assume that rear twin Edgemonts and Eleganzas are the same. IIRC Jerry Sitzlar has a rear twin Eleganza and I'll
ask him to verify that model. If someone with an Edgemont could check the same measurements it would be helpful.
My Avion here is gutted so I can't check it, JR could you check yours, please.
LarryW, could you check your Royale, please.

It's a 77 Kingsley Rob, first year for that model. The Edgemont was a 76 only with the same (???) floor plan. 78 Kingsley was the same (afaik) with the exception of a tan upper paint above the stripe vs white above and below stripes on 77. Buskirk repainted the top sides of my 77 with 78 colors.

Bill,
Regards,
Rob M.
Rob & Kerry,
The twin bed measurements came from the 1977 price list page 5. Don't know how real the GMC literature is, a real measurement may be better. Would expect all 3 GMC twin bed models (Kingsley, Eleganza II & Palm Beach) to be the same since the ZEO6584 designation was the same for all.
