My breather rubs on the bottom of my hatch on the passenger side and makes an annoying squeak. Here is my solution.

I noticed that the breather wanted to drop down on the left (snorkle) side which caused the right side to lift up. Thinking that if I can hold the breather level, it wouldn't rub on the hatch bottom, I came up with this:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/misc/p56766-img-20141229-122234-682.html
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6256/IMG_20141229_122234_682.jpg

Which screws onto the bottom of the breather at the base of the snorkle:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6256/IMG_20141229_122423_312.jpg

The bottom, which has a split piece of vacuum hose on it to protect the paint and metal of the valve cover, sits on the valve cover flange.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6256/IMG_20141229_122459_944.jpg

This is where the lid was rubbing on the hatch bottom.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6256/IMG_20141229_122615_893.jpg

And this is the hatch bottom that I had previously ground down about 1/16" in order to provide clearance. It didn't help.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/misc/p56774-img-20141229-122623-292.html
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6256/IMG_20141229_122623_292.jpg

The noise wasn't a constant thing so I won't know if it really works for a few hundred miles. The right side is a good 1/8-3/16" lower than it was and the breather sits flat on the carb. I think it will work fine.

Kerry,

The important point is: Does the air cleaner base fit tightly on the
carburetor flange? A lot of abrasive grit can be pulled through there if
not.

IIRC correctly, you've already replaced the body/frame pads. If not, you
need to do so to get more clearance there. Also check the front
"doughnuts" at the front. You should not be having that interference. I'm
not sure that any one of us knows how thick the installed doughnuts should
be, so some experimental shimming may be in order.

I've already done new, thicke,r pads. Haven't done the front doughnuts yet because I could not break the nuts loose and my oil cooler is in the way. This seemed like a simple fix. The bottom of the breather does fit flat on the carb gasket Ken. I doubt that it did before.

I was going to make a similar post to this one, in that my air cleaner is also rubbing on the hatch in the same exact spot. I was going to question whether the air cleaner should be level/parallel with the hatch as mine is not. See below pictures. Body pads were replaced several years ago and now I noticed the hatch rubbing on the air cleaner. Air cleaner is on the carb correctly. So I guess what needs to be replaced next is the front donuts? Are new ones available? I don't recall seeing them on JimKs website.

Kerry, check the seal around the hatch. They collapse, lowering the cover
towards the air cleaner.

You can also take a router and cut the bottom of the hatch a little deeper to give more clearance.

I did as Emory said as well as adding 1/4" spacer to the "donut" front mounts to match the additional 1/4" offered by Jim Bounds 1/2" pads. Lotts o room now and coach body happier.

You might want to check the top of the air cleaner for level, maybe the
engine has settled on the left side.
