Carl,
I was looking at those. Who makes Dick Cepek Tires?
I love tireracks website - makes it easy to find matching front and rears with a stagger.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?customSizeSearch=true&performance=ALL&frontWidth=245%2F&frontRatio=70&frontDiamete r=16&rearWidth=225%2F&rearRatio=75&rearDiameter=16
The BF Goodrich KOs in 245/70 are rated at 2500 lbs @ a 65psi max pressure.
About a grand for the set. Not especially cheap, but about what the 1 year old 16.5" firestones with less than 100 miles ran me last year. Probably need to find a home for those before I get too excited about new wheels...

I'm not sure who makes them. Dick Cepek used to be a big company catering to the off road crowd. The company folded several years ago and someone else took up their tire line, it might be Mickey Thompson. That tire is a new one that wasn't even on the market 9 months ago when I was looking to replace mine.
The D rated tires, in that size (BFG All Terrain) will work well too. I just wore a pair out in less that four years with less than 16,000 miles on them. I think it was a combination of being the steering tire, the drive tire, and the weight that did it. I was running them at 55 psi also because of the size. They wore nice and even. My tire guy suggested I run them at the max pressure (65 psi) to reduce squirm. He said they will probably wear better that way. He also gave me a new pair at his cost plus 10% and saved me a few dollars.
I have 225/75R16 BFG Commercial TA tires on the back wheels. I don't have a problem with running wither mismatched wheels or tires on the front. To each his own, but I like the function over the form in this case.

Trivia for the masses:
Cooper makes Dick Cipek, Mickey Thompson and Mastercraft - its on Cooper's corporate page. I suspect they make Pep Boy's Futura line due to a blurb on the bottom of the product page about Mr. Cooper, but that could be attributable to sloppy web editing.

Update:
Got a chance to Mount up the eagle 16x7 wheel on the hub to check track and clearance:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6394/medium/Wheel2.jpg
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6394/medium/Wheel1.jpg
Seems to line up well.
Also found Southwest Wheel carries the Alcoa, but not in the hub centered. The Alcoa is also a 16x7 with a 5.15" centerbore, lug centered. But it is almost twice the price. Might be worth it if the max tire pressure is worrisome:

Joe Weir wrote on Wed, 23 July 2014 07:37Update: Wheel arrived today. No time to check fitment, Rob will probably get there before me. It has "made in USA" cast into the backside of the spoke, along with Max pressure 60 PSI. The country of origin was a nice surprise.
I am scanning tire inflation charts to find if the max inflation is going to be a problem. I was planning on running a wider tire, perhaps a 245/70-16, but the closest I can find listed so far is the 245/75-16 size showing load at 60 PSI as 2480lbs. While this certainly seems adequate, I would love to find the std. specs on the 245/70.
This also opens the can of worms of availability as the 245/70 appears to be no where near as common as the 245/75. I guess not a lot of trucks go for staggered tire setups...
I brought this up when I bought my eagles. We had a member that worked for the company that makes them.
He said that the 60psi is only for bead seating, not for usage. you can run much higher pressures once the bead is set.
I did a search and see nothing about it, must a got lost.
Or do we have an archive we can search?

I think that 245/70-16 is most likely a passenger car tire size and the 245/75-16 is a true truck tire.

Are you sure? I just bought a set and their specs indicate the proper hole size for hub centering. I haven't actually measured them...or mounted them but I asked here if they were the correct size and got affirmative answers. Perhaps they're out of that model presently.
I am sure.
The high offset, hub-centered, "dually" alcoa we all know and love is available from Southwest.
I was referring to the Zero offset version that will allow the front and rear track to be the same without a set of spacers, It is not available in a hub centered, but is available in a lug centered, like the Eagle, for $208.
Sorry for the confusion.
Edit: Southwest Now has the front wheel under $200

The BF Goodrich KO in 245/70 was a truck tire, but I could only find the load range at max pressure - not at 60psi. Its probably got enough, but I would like to know for sure.
At this point I'll probably just go with the 245/75 on the front, and 225/75 on the rear.

I love tireracks website - makes it easy to find matching front and rears with a stagger.

"The BF Goodrich KO in 245/70 was a truck tire, but I could only find the load range at max pressure - not at 60psi. Its probably got enough, but I would like to know for sure."
Joe,
If you look at the spec on both of the above LT245/70R16 tires, You will find that the max load at the max pressure is more than adequate for the front end of a GMC. I wouldn't worry about running the tires at 5 psi over the rated pressure on the wheel. I'm guessing they have a built in margin of safety that more than covers the extra pressure. I also suspect that the tire would hold the weight at 60 PSI with no problem.
My front wheels carry about 2,000 lbs each, as verified at the GMCMI rally in Pueblo a few years ago. I am currently running the LT255/70R16 LR-D BFG All Terrains on the front with 65 psi in them on the 16 X 8" Dodge wheels. If you go with an LT245/75R16 tire, you will be effectively raising your final drive gearing to the next level. For instance, if you have a 3.70 final drive, and you run a 245/75 tire, you will end up with an effective final drive ratio of 3.55:1. You may be fine with that depending on your coach and where you do most of your traveling. The next time I need tires, I am going to look into the Dick Cepek LT245/70R16 LR-E tires in order to stay as close as possible to the OD of the 225/75 tires I have on the rear.

Good point. The Saluda grade on I-26 up to Asheville and the Parkway has a 6.7% stretch. I'm sure the old 3.07 will have enough trouble without taller tires making it an even lower numeric ratio...

The Mountain Directory Ebooks give the locations and descriptions of over
700 mountain passes and steep grades in 22 states. The Mountain Directory
ebooks tell you where the steep grades are, how long they are, how steep
(%) they are, whether the road is two lane, three lane, or four lane, if
there are escape ramps, switchbacks, sharp curves, speed limits, etc. With
this information, one can know ahead of time what a pass is like and make
an informed decision about whether to go over or around. If you decide to
go over, perhaps the cool morning hours would ease the strain on the engine
and transmission during the climb. Unhooking the towed vehicle would make
the climb and the descent easier. Knowing what lies ahead is half the
battle.

Has anyone tried using the bicycle route feature in google earth? In the case of the Saluda Grade it offered a route around with much shallower hills. May have to drive this route in the car and see.

Knowing what lies ahead is half the
battle.

That looks terrific! I never got the time to mount the one I ordered before I left for Knoxville. I will order another one when I
get back to Houston!
Even though it's not necessary I'll make up a couple of rings to tack weld in the centers to reduce them to 4.567 in.
I think the Eagle wheel is nicer looking than the Alcoa.

I'm about to order a pair of these and may also have some rings fabbed up but wondering what are you planning to do for a center cap?

I bought a couple of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201001540608
They mimic the alcoa center cap, but have a larger logo center area: 64mm versus 57mm for the alcoas. Still working on that part.

I need to add I have not bolted these up to the hub as yet, only test fit from the backside of the wheel

These look really good on the alcoas, just wish I could find them in 64mm.
