I think the MC is going, and just confused myself reading all the related threads here. Assuming my set up is stock 1973, except that the front brakes were upgraded discs with the 1 ton front end, then what I need is a 1.125" bore MC replacement, right?

That is Oreilly's NMC1732 (or the rebuilt 10-1732 for $16) I think, or 1534 for the 1.25" as an alternative.

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search.oap?keyword=brake+master+cylinder&year=1976&make=Chevrolet&model=C20+Pickup+RWD&vi=1032039

Thanks for any guidance, I need to do this this afternoon.

There are a lot of them available.

Autozone M1730 rebuilt, NM1521 new.
The GMCMI parts book also lists many others : Carquest, EIS, NAPA, Raybestos, Wagner, etc.

If you need more info let me know.

I do not see a replacement number in the GMCMI parts book for the P30
master cylinder. Anyone know what numbers they might be?? My pedal goes
down slowly after the brakes have been applied; has been doing that for
years; in fact, since I installed it brand new in 2000. Still able to stop
the coach however.

Hi Jerry

The Harrison system uses a Delco 174-834 and a GM 14009146 which is also a Carquest master cylinder 20-2234.

This has the metal rectangular reservoir which has the front brakes on the front chamber.

Forgot to say this also crosses to Wagner F103239, Bendix 11641, EIS E150063 and a CarQuest 20-2234. This is a 34 mm piston bore (approx. 1-21/64").

This fits a 1977-96 P35/P3500 Van (with 4 wheel disk brakes) and a P-30 Van. It also fits a 1991 C3500 Pickup. It will give sufficient volume for the use of 80mm front calipers added to the front wheels of the GMC and for 4 calipers added to the rear wheels.
This master cylinder has a 1/2x20 threaded port for the front chamber and a 9/16x18 threaded port for the back chamber.

NOTE: the original GMC master cylinder had the 1/2 in the back and the 9/16 in the front. So it is necessary to move the 9/16" (rear brake line) to the rear chamber and the 1/2" (front brake line) to the front chamber. This is not a problem as this master cylinder has two chambers that are of equal size - unlike the original one that has a smaller front chamber that went to the rear brakes.

Haven't been following the thread carefully but just wanted to make sure
you know there are mods to be made to the MC bracket and the pushrod if
you go to the 34mm MC.

I assume we're talking about this MC:
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3693/9479734011_d2c98f3127_o.jpg

I made a custom support bracket and didn't modify the pushrod.
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3694/9479733947_2f2dfd8eee_o.jpg

I DID check the pushrod length to make sure I didn't need to make a
longer one.
If you just flatten the OEM bracket and put it BEHIND the MC you need to
make a longer pushrod for sure.

None of this is new info... just making sure you remember before just
swapping parts.

However, Jerry Wheeler stated that he had a Harrison system so that would have come with a different MC bracket already so he doesn't have to do any mods.
A long time back I had posted how the original bracket could be used between the boost tank and the master cylinder by lenghting the push rod. If anyone wants more details I can repost that message.

I have Harrison's bracket and the push rod he supplied with his system.
Thanks for the info that will make others aware that the P30 is not just a
direct swap with the OEM MC.

I do not see a replacement number in the GMCMI parts book for the P30
master cylinder.

Just ordered a P30 to replace my inventory when Rob Meuller needed mine. Ordered from RockAuto: Dorman M39309 $53.79.

The 1 1/4 MC that is a bolt in replacement for stock is a WAGNER R79821 and they are on closeout for less than 10 bucks.

I'll probably go to the P30 when I install my Manny 1 ton that is waiting in the shop.

I think the bore is the same but it has a considerably larger resivor which is needed with larger calipers.
