Someone was building a GMC Trailer. It was essentially a GMC Motorhome with the drivers compartment removed and a GMC rear cap on the front where the trailer hitch A-frame would be. I have a picture of it under construction, but I cant seem to get the image small enough to upload to this site?
Anyone know any further info on who is building it or any other info?
Thanks,
Steve

Does the trailer really need both axles?
I'd hate to see the toll bill for that rig

When I was pulling a trailer on my motorcycle, I got hit with 3 axles.
So, it will be interesting to see what this comes in at. Most tolls
would probably put that at their second or third level of toll rates.

Its more about the true theme then to worry about tolls or axles or even practicality.
Plus it will be replacing my 29 foot featherlight race trailer which is way more heavy duty and a lot heavier.
The whole goal is to look like GM made it, Which rumor has it they did make two.

The last two times through Tuscaloosa over the toll bridge, the gerbil charged me the 6 wheel raste. I don't think she saw the toad till we were past.
"How much?"
"$1.50 (I think)"

When I tow a car (4 wheel down) on the turnpike using the 'EZ Pass' I am charged for 5 axels and extra tall rate. The same as a semi with a trailer.

Just trying to set the historical record straight (as I understand it)
Here is the GMC built trailer story that I have been told by those involved.
ONE GMC trailer was built at the request of J.D.Wisner (GMC Gen. Mfg. Mgr.) who was a snowmobile enthusiast. It was kept in the fleet garage and used by a number of company employees. At some point a higher up said to a (WK) "get rid of that, not legal, could be trouble". A letter authorizing its scraping was provided and the deed was done.
I know of no pictures of this trailer, it has been described to me as dark blue with a light upper area. Stainless steel rear bumper and a power rear ramp. There are two artist renderings I had put on the photo site some time ago.

While the Curtis 5th wheel trailer isn't quite what Steve was asking about, (no rear cap being mounted in front) it is a very nice project. (LOTS of work as they replaced all the sheet aluminum on the sides.) I understand the idea is to carry two small race cars plus provide living quarters for two. Bedroom in the "cab" area. (Forum users follow the link for more pictures.)
