A friend of mine is looking for a cover for his GMC. Somewhere in the back
of my head, I think someone found one somewhere that was a very good fit.
So the question: Where does he get one that fits a GMC?

Thanks guys

I read here (on GMCnet) that a fitted cover for a travel/camping trailer, about 24 foot, will fit a 26 foot GMC.

I have not tried it.

Mike...I have an Adco from Camping world. The 22/24 foot "travel trailer" item is what you want. I won't tell you that it is a custom fit, although it is as good as it gets.
My 29.5 foot stretch has a 26/28 foot version.

Hi, Dan.

Is the 22/24 foot travel trailer model right for the 26 footer?

Go for the 22/24. I let the phone person talk me up to the 26/28 and it is too big. Too much material so that it reaches the ground and when the wind comes up there is too much ballooning.

Attached are two photo's of the new ADCO winter cover. This is a 26" Royale with one roof-top AC, storage pod, ladder and rails are removed awaiting paint. The cover fits perfectly.

The GMC is currently up on jack while the front end is being rebuilt.

ADCO Catalog Item #26771, 22’/24’ Travel Trailer cover. $194.99 club price at camping world.

<<ADCO #26771, 22’/24’ Travel Trailer cover>>

Thanks Mike

That looks like a pretty steep angle up the platform for the rear, did you drive the coach up there ?

Built the ramps per the instructions on the photo-site from Kelvin Dietz. Drove it up on the ramps, chocked the rear tires, jacked the front and took off all the steering components to have rebuilt.

The ramps really make it easy to work under the coach. Wish I had them during my first GMC project. Sometimes I back up onto the ramps and at other times I will pull forward onto them. Total cost to build ramps $60.00 plus nails. Wish I had used treated wood.

Link to ramp plan.

Perchance, has anybody come up with a DETAILED list of materials
with dimensions for the individual pieces that need to be cut? I
am quite perplexed so far in trying to figure out just how the
boards need to be cut. Maybe I'll figure it out after a good sleep!

Kelvin does good work.

You only need treated wood for the bottom layer.

I used treated wood on the bottom of my 12 ton jackstands. Not knowing the exact surface where I would need the stands, I followed Steve's plan except the base layer are treated 2x6's.

Steve Southworth 12 ton jackstand design:

Did you look at the first link, Mac?

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=5006&cat=3173

It's kinda all there... 78" long, 8-1/8" high, 10" wide. Even tells
you where to place the cross pieces...

Next time I'd prime and paint all the pieces first or use treated wood.
They do tend to sit around and collect spiders and dampness between
uses. And if you're really serious, you use Western Red Cedar. Bet you
could save 10 pounds and they would look awesome. ;^)

Kelvin, why did you specify 2x4 and 2x6 together instead of 2x10s ?

I wanted the ramps wider than 9-3/8"...
And a 2 x 4 and a 2 x 6 ~9" wide when you add them up. They will weigh
less than a standard 2 x 10.

The ramps are still pretty hefty. Not something you carry around for
fun. A reason NOT to used treated lumber, I suppose.

I think 2 x 10's OR 2 x 12's would have driven the price up considerably too.
